During Monday and Tuesday this week, we visited the IBC in Amsterdam, an always relevant exhibition for the broadcast industry with its 55,000 visitors. This year Amsterdam welcomed us with really warm and sunny weather which made a part of the indoor halls extra warm.
At the fair, we had booked meetings with several of our customers, suppliers and partners, and we also took the opportunity to check out some news. One of the many exciting things we noticed is the growth of so-called cloud-based live production.
Anyone who wants to send live TV regardless of physical location and independent of access to mobile data networks could visit any provider of satellite links. Our friends at Satmission had among other things, a small and flexible uplink car in place (“Event Hunter”) with integrated technology for video over video. Maybe we will have reason to return to it in the future!
Fair’s absolutely best built (?) OB bus were as usual a creation by Project builders/Video House. A solution with a separate sound room, heated hall, corridor, technical room etc.. Eddy who designed this showed how they worked with the modules, sit/stand tables and screens, removable seats, and a diagonal line giving the sound engineers a view of all screens and people who are in production. A new approach to easily create greater participation, and we really liked what we saw!
